Football Growing up
For this project I wanted to explore and indulge in football and the impact it has on kids growing up. my first idea was to attend sports events such as matches and training sessions and take some action shots during this team. I wanted to show what it takes to become a footballer and the things people have to do growing up to achieve this dream.
over all of the years he has been going he has manged to build up a collection of signed memorabilia, ranging from t shirts to boots and goal keeper gloves.
a lot of the items in these sets are collection from his days out visiting and watching his favourite teams, such as Blackburn rovers and Accrington Stanley.
in some of the rare chances he visits the teams further out such as Everton, a team he has been supporting since very young, he was able to get signed pictures from famous players such as Dominic Calvert Lewin and Richarlison.
for some of the football cards, one of the biggest reasons I believe that he was given these is due to having a big interest in the FIFA game, by using and giving out these cards it would motivate him more, thus allowing him to continue his dream.
for this project I've been super lucky to have a friend with a younger brother who was very open to working with me and allowed me document his memories and achievements growing up with football. at the start of this is gained access to join him for a training session, my goal here was to try and see how much effort he puts in to achieve his goal in being a pro footballer. this is something I have wanted to show due to the lack of viewership in this area.
towards the end of the project I was able to get some more action shots of him around his house, doing some behind the scene’s training, this really helped me to dive more into the culture about growing up playing and following football.
